Shout out to my hood!

Summer time, ice cream, cold beer, BBQ, swimming pools...that was just the start of our first annual block party! Several of my neighbors came up with the idea and by 5:00 last night the street was blocked, kids were riding bikes and swimming in the little pools and the BBQ was hot and ready to cook. And the best part, I brought drinks and a salad but I didn't have to do the BBQ. It was my first time meeting several of the neighbors, but by the time the evening ended we had already planned a book club, game nights, cocktail hours and the next block party! I didn't realize how many little munchkins lived so close to me and I got to run, play, and even hold three new babies. I love my neighborhood and I learn more about how great my community really is ever single day.

That's neat. I just moved into a new community and hope we get to do something like this before summer is over.

That's awesome! Somehow, I don't think I would get such a warm fuzzy from a block party in MY apartment complex..ha.ha.ha.. :)

A good neighborhood makes a huge difference. I am so happy that you are in such a good one. Lynilu used to be my neighbor when she lived in KC and there is nothing better then having a friend as a neighbor.

A block party is a cool throwback and a great way to actually meet your neighbors but I'd be afraid that my neighbors would all confront me and air their grievances against me. Nothing to really support this theory, I'm just paranoid.

That's awesome! I love a good block party. In my younger days I would've poo-poo'd something like this but it's so rewarding to live in a neighborhood that has a sense of community.
